About us
Baraka Foodbank is a new initiative aimed at addressing the issue of food insecurity in the community as the cost of living continues to rise, many individuals and families in our community are struggling to make ends meet.
Located at the Somali Development service centre, this food bank is open to the public on Wednesdays providing much-needed support to individuals and families who may be struggling to put food on the table. The name Baraka means "blessing" in Somali, and we hope to bring blessings and relief to those who are facing difficult times. With a commitment to providing nutritious and wholesome food options, Baraka Foodbank is a beacon of hope for those who need it most.

Please ask volunteers for help in selecting food items you would like to purchase.
Select any 2 Cans as 1 Item such as Baked Beans, Green Peas, Chickpeas, Red Kidney beans and tomatoes.
If you select Tuna and Sardines, each tin is regarded as 1 Item.
Customers are to choose only 1 food items from any food categories such as Eggs, Oil, Onions, Butter, Yoghurt,
Apples, Bananas, Potatoes, Fruit juice, Rice, any one Cereals such as Cornflakes, Coco Pops etc, Fresh Vegetables.
Every week SDS will have any 2 food items to give as part of 10 food items.

We have implemented a QR code system. By simply scanning the QR code using a mobile device, you can effortlessly contribute funds to our cause.

Donations
Our centre relies on a continuous supply of food to meet the needs of individuals and families facing food insecurity. We actively and gratefully accept food donations from generous individuals, businesses, and community organisations.
You can bring donations to us from Monday to Friday.
We appreciate and welcome any support in the form of food donations at our centre.
