This project is designed to focus on the training and employment requirements of the local people, particularly in disadvantaged communities, and provides a community based facility that can support them into employment and learning opportunities. This service provides support, advice, guidance, and targets the long-term unemployed, women, young people who are NEET (from 16), and lone parents with low or no skills. The service provides additional employment and training provisions in the local area to those who experience difficulties in accessing mainstream services. It offers help with finding suitable courses, getting qualifications, job searching and applications, career changes and other aspects of learning, training and work. The service is client centred and confidential, with commitment to equal opportunities. The service also offers a workshop designed to increase their job search and employability skills. The workshops consist of:
- Writing effective application forms, CV’s and personal statements
- Effective interview skills
- How to make a good impression
- Communicating with confidence
- Understanding and meeting employer’s expectations
- Developing helpful interpersonal skills
Clients who are looking for work or education are recorded into our database according to their experience, skills, qualifications and interests, and recieve the appropriate assistance and guidance.
This service provides Information, Advice and Guidance of employment and learning to local people who are looking for jobs or education. This project enables clients to go back into work, education or training. Websites, direct telephone calls and e-mails are all of use within the service. Services are classified into two groups Universal and DPS; Universal is a one off advice session, where those of DPS (Differentiated Personal Services) are being supported on a case-load basis.
